Hello! So I recently visited the Land of Smiles again. I know right, I think I visit BKK like so much that it's becoming more of a norm already. Haha. Anyway, +66 was good. It has always been good and I'm sure it'll be even better the next few trips up. Since I kinda know that place very well already... Heh.
Mandatory OOTD + I am leaving Singapore shot before actually leaving Singapore! Haha. Love the randomness of this. Credits to Marie Bobanna!
So our first meal was at this rather popular eating place near the river. I've no idea what it's called but, this place serves pretty good authentic Thai food at reasonable prices! I mean, come on la. It's definitely cheaper than in Singapore, for sure. Lol.
Day one ended just like that. We did some random street shopping prior to returning to the hotel, as well as the usual massage and all that kinda good stuff. Since we touched down at Don Mueang Airport at a rather late timing that evening, we were all actually kinda tired already. The guys insisted that the massage aided them alot in sleeping well that night. Hahaha.
The sleep was at Baiyoke Boutique Hotel. Not the best of hotels I've stayed in, at BKK, but definitely one of the cheapest man. It's like.. $40 per person!?!? How cheap can it get already! Haha.
How to start day two without an OOTD shot right? Haha!
So we started day 2 RIGHT by having.... The Legendary Soi 19 Pratunam Wanton mee! Well... I know the folks love it. But I honestly feel that it's very normal leh. Like I've tasted better ones in SG? Haha. OH AND I MUST SAY THIS. The portion is SUPER SMALL. OMG. I could finished it in three scoops I'm not even kidding you. Yeah.
I think what's special about this is that, apart from the usual chilli that you add in yourself, you can add in stuff like Sugar... Some Black sauce thingy? Yeah. Sugar makes the Noodle taste better. Haha. Maybe cos it's sweeter or something.
Of cus apart from Wanton mee, they do sell like the usual kinda kwaychap food? Like those Pig Trotters, Salted Vege, etc. I feel that it makes the meal more exciting and not just the boring Wanton mee. :)
Right after breakfast, the guys set off to Pinky Tailoring! The Tailor that a good friend of ours introduced to us for good quality and affordable tailored shirts. As you can see, I took a selfie below. Haha. As for the girls, since it's a Saturday, where else to go but Chatuchak Weekend Market right? Like Duh. Haha.
Grp shot in a random cooling mall before the guys and girls separated for a good 2 hours!
So after getting ourselves measured, we headed over to Chatuchak too to join up with the girls!
This is really a no-brainer, right? Haha. One OUGHT to try the legendary coconut ice cream that many people have been raving about! I think it taste so good also because of the extremely HOT temperature it can get at the market. Seriously hot!
The guys didn't do much shopping there, except for some gifts for people back home in SG. I hereby blame the hot weather for it. Could've gotten more spoils from there, for sure, if not for the weather!
So to escape from that fiery place, we decided to head to Siam area first, since we already plan to have dinner at the much renowned (but truly disappointing will explain more later) Greyhound cafe which was located at Siam Center!
Yongjie came the last time and he was telling us how amazing the Milo Volcano was at this pretty looking cafe call, Audrey Petite, which was also located at Siam Center. So... Why not right? :D
The Milo Volcano. Looks amazingggg right? Haha. But honestly, Nic and I felt that this was okay only. BECAUSE WE FOUND OUT SOMETHING EVEN MORE AMAZING! HAHA.
Introducing... the Milo ROTI. OMG. This is the bomb. Seriously. Hahaha. I know it doesnt' look as pretty as the Milo Volcano, but seriously!!! Thick Prata-like Roti Slices mixed with their speciality milo sauce, together with Milo balls and Marshmellows, top it up with a good ol vanilla ice cream that is covered with milo powder, in a HOT sizzling pot!
PLEASE. IT SOUNDS GOOD ALREADY. HAHA. We ordered it for sure when we saw that in the menu!
They have pretty interesting drinks there. Idk what this is called, but apparently it's some random fruits mixed together kinda thing. The guys didn't know we had to stir it up before tasting it, so we just drink like that HAHA. No wonder the weird initial taste. :\
After that mini dessert sesh, we were still too early for dinner, plus the girls were still at Chatuchak. Since we know that Siam area is really too expensive for us (for now), we decided to just walk around randomly. Haha. Found and saw some pretty cool boutique shops that Nic was saying that his next trip here, he will definitely visit these shops again. :)
Random balloons being let up in the air together.
Found a nice spot for cool individual shots. So... Why not right? HAHA.
Dinner at the much raved about, Greyhound Cafe. Man... This was probably the most disappointing experience in BKK, for me.
Their legendary Chicken wings. Honestly it's NOT even nice. And it's really small! Can you see? It's probably chicks wings lor. Okay I know it's not chicks la but... Yeah. You get the point.
Milk tea Frappe. Meh. Okay only la. Not the best for sure.
Celebrated YJ's birthday there too! Happy birthday, YJ!
The food was nothing special, so that I didn't even bother to take pictures of it. If you ask me, Greyhound cafe is a very normal cafe in BKK. Definitely there are better ones out there.
Come only if you are looking for a quick dining option. Definitely not a good place to chill and talk.
So Day 2 ended with them going to massage again. Hah. Of cus it has to be massage. And myself? I went to get myself a nice cold cup of iced chocolate. Heh. I'm not really a massage person. Oh wells.
Day three! Day three was spent in mostly Pratunam area, since we had a flight to catch later in that evening.
So right after breakfast along the streets, our shirts arrived in the morning! The ones we tailored at Pinky Tailoring. Haha. I'm really loving the fit. :)
Half of the girl's loot. Seriously! :\
Oh and there's something I must say. You know how I've been searching for nice snapback caps? Singapore sells them at like... $15-$25? Some even more expensive. Probably in the range of $30s.
So I was just randomly looking around at Platinum mall and I chanced upon these snapback caps!!! Like finally! Haha. But soon, I was horrified by the prices. NOT because they were expensive, but because they were so cheap!!! Like $8 per cap!?!? Plus some of them are the ones I wanted when I was in SG! It's almost twice the price man! WAH LAO. Crazy!
Got myself the KING cap above. Love it! Bought one for YJ too since it's his birthday.
So our short but fulfilling BKK trip ended like that. Could've been better if we had one more day, but oh wells. Definitely a good getaway for me from work.
I really like BKK, not just because it's cheap and all that. But I think the reason why I see myself coming BKK more often in the near future, is also partly because I think there are certain things that I can only find in BKK. Haha. The shopping is of cus, the bomb. And the Food.
Yup. I am coming back to BKK soon. HAHA. Soon la soon.
Till next time, +66!
