The Providore @ Mandarin Gallery. I've heard about this rather new cafe from people, and I always wanted to try it one day, after the many many walks in Mandarin Gallery.
So finally, I decided to try it out, to celebrate Janice's birthday, together with Samuel Yee! We arrived at the cafe at around 11:15am in the morning? It wasn't too crowded at that point of time. Janice arrived first so she found us a really good spot. Overall, I thought the feel of the cafe was there, but the seats were rather limited though. This could partly be the design of the cafe? I don't know lol. I could picture people standing around awkwardly waiting for seats though.
Coffee! Amazingly, these coffee were good! Sam and I got Mocha, while the birthday girl got a good ol' cappuccino. The richness of the coffee flavour was there. :)
We got the regular size cups, for $5 each. There were also the bigger ones going at $8. But to be honest, the regular one's probably more than enough for anyone. Well, unless you're a coffee addict.
Our Brunch for the day! Janice and I got the standard Big Breakfast, hers with the poached eggs and mine in scrambled. It cost us about $20.50 each. I felt that it was a little overpriced, given that I can also make the kinda food we ordered. Haha. But since we're in MANDARIN GALLERY... Haha. Yeah Pretty reasonable price I reckon.
The bread was too hard though. It's like eating and biting on a rock. Meh. Everything else was okay. Yeah. Not fantastic, but yeah. Not too bad. Okay you get the point lol.
Sam's one was the Breakfast BLT ($16.50). I think it was in a rather weird shape, thus it really doesn't appeal to me? Haha. But he finished it all so I guess it wasn't too bad as well.
This is what usually happens before we feast on our food. Lol. The tough part is, sometimes the drinks will be served first and in order to "preserve" a good shot later, we had to wait for the food to come and that usually take a longer time. So by the time everything is done, our coffee is usually cold already! :( Hahaha. The sacrifice we make sometimes just to get a good picture. :\
The total cost was around like, closet to $80? Not too bad la for a decent brunch in town. Sam and I decided to blessed Janice w a treat, since it's for her birthday celebration after all. :)
So after the good brunch, we decided to catch a movie!
LUCY. The average person uses 10% of their brain capacity. Today she will hit 100%.
Yeah. I think that sentence kinda sums up the whole movie? LOL. I felt that this movie is really not worth that $10 ticket. Really. I mean, Lucy is like GOD in the show la. As her brain capacity is being used more, she can do some super amazing things that only God can do! Hah. The ending was a major turnoff though. It really could have ended off in a better way. Its those kind of like, you know, abrupt ending? Yeah.
"I'm everywhere". Thats what Lucy said to the policemen before the show ends.
Right. So... if you use 100% of your brain capacity, you become God? Hahaha. I don't know. Just trying to have some fun there.
Selfies are a must! Right? Heh.
So the final part of the celebration was to try the much raved about, Spanish Doughnut! Specifically, their churros! Haha. Sam took a really unglam picture here. I shall be a nice friend and not post it here. LOL.
I really enjoy days like these man. Where I get to be in town at 12 noon and not as my office. Sigh. I think it was made even better that day, because I get to do all that with these 2 good people. :-)
Blessed Birthday, Janice!
