Everyday without fail, I would wonder to myself about the lost efforts of trying to get people here to keep left on the escalator. I use to see those little signs paste on the right side of the escalators, in hope that people DO read it and eventually, keep left. I mean, what's so difficult right?
But sad to say, I don't see them around no more. What happen to those signs and little stickers!? A lost effort? Dang.
Having been to Japan and a few other countries myself, I'm always impressed at how the people there would automatically keep left, if they are not in the rush. The right side is for people who wants to hurry up the escalators.
I guess Singapore did try to follow that... But it's not really working eh.
Every morning when I take those escalators up, when both the left and right sides are jammed and stuck, I would solemnly shake my head and wonder if the person in front of all this, knows the urgency of some people below the pack.
Sometimes I even think to myself if these people KNOW that they are causing a huge jam below them.
Mystery mystery. Let's solve it one day.
