Chinese new year!
A festival filled with Mandarin oranges and Red packets, that comes along with well wishes and handshakes as well.
CNY has always been a festival that showcases smiles and laughter. It's also a festival where family bond together again. Broken relationships being patched. It's always a beautiful thing to witness.
The CNY that I celebrate for the past years had always been a standard 'procedure'. Its like year in year out, the plan would NEVER change. I'll always visit the same places in the same manner or order. No matter what the weather or the time may be, it was always the same.
But something significant changes it all.
Being at Mandai Crematory, standing there in that pathway filled with different ancestors of different family. "There it is" exclaimed my mum.
How it's different this year is because someone isn't around anymore. Someone who use to ALWAYS make sure I have enough money before I leave the house. Someone who always care and always talk to us, whenever the family is down. Never giving up, always providing that source of strength when the family has none.
And because that someone isn't around anymore, there we were, at Mandai.
Somehow, as I lay those flowers down as a sign of respect and stuff, I chanced upon the carvings on the stone tablet.
"Surely the I will dwell in the House of the Lord Forever"
Then I look around, seeing each tablet there has its own portion of scripture. Be it the same or not, each and everyone of them who passed on here are gonna be IN HEAVEN.
Had that sudden revelation of how death isnt that scary afterall. Because there's somewhere better than earth. ALOT better, to be specific.
I left Mandai this noon, feeling like I'm indeed the King's son. How awesome is that.
A simple trip to visit my late grandmother could give me that awesome revelation and feeling of how precious and important each believer is to God.
Wow Lord, wow.
Always standing in awe of you.
