And so, I'm sure most of you guys would know, or rather, knew that I away in Japan for like a week or so. Indeed I was and Japan was one heck of a moment I tell you. Well, It isn't the first time I've been to Japan but somehow, It just felt different from any other overseas experience I've been to.
Australia was awesome when I was there alone with some friends in the past, and I thought that was like the perfect holiday already.
But I was wrong. Japan is way more fun and somehow, the whole asian culture is still there, giving me some comfort zone as well!
Apart from all the many areas that we've visited, from temples to shopping zones to restricted areas, it has all been rather favoured and blessed! Lets begin with my whole perspective of Japan!
I'll kick off with the people!
I think Japanese people have the coolest and most fashionable dressing ever! I mean, honestly, apart from the whole 'Japan is cold' excuse, even if IT IS COLD, the way they dress and the way they present themselves to the public is somewhat, or rather, so much better than any other countries that I've visited to, and that includes Europe and the States.
I've been to countries where the temperature is much cooler and everything, but they don't make that much of an effort dressing up. I'm not saying that their fasion sense is lousy whatsoever, but somehow, Japanese people REALLY know how to dress up. Hah.
Like the past 7 days, even at a nearby local shopping mall near some hotel by the name of Rose garden? Yeah. Something like that. That was the very first hotel we spent a night in. Anyway, even at that local shopping mall named JUSCO, you'll get to see amazing people with amazing dress styles! Almost every girl that walk past looks pretty damm good, if you get my drift!
Girls with their whole boots thingy, which was in fashion trend for them now, or the whole tights or stockings kinda thing. Not forgetting their amazing dresses with jackets, or trenchcoats. Different kinds of clothing matched together as one, with the colour combination of high level, there's just one word to describe. Wow.
Oh apart from their clothes, there's another part about them that makes them stand out ; MOST OF THEM HAVE FUNKY GOLDEN/DARKRED/DARKBROWN/BROWN hairdo! I mean, it clearly gives the impressions that hair wax is definitely being purchased and used alot in Japan. Girls with messy hairstyle, out of the bed look, the whole "pong pong" in hokkien, look! Man. I like. HAHA okay maybe its just the looks. Oh well.
and GUYS. There's just something about checked shirts and guys in Japan currently. Its like, every 10 guy you'll meet along the street, 5 of them would be wearing checked shirts, with many different colours I might add. The whole skinny jeans thing is there still, but I guess for Japan, slim and straight cut is still their favoured choice and along with their OMFG hairdo, Wow. Hah.
And of cos, there are many different areas in Japan, with many different styles as well. One such area would be Shinjuku. That's the kinda area where you'll see many f4s lookalikes, with their super long hairdo, and super skinny jeans. Dressed in full black suit and jacket, they're off to 'work'. Yeah, 'Work'.
Girls being prostitutes, guys being pimps. But I have to say that all these people really REALLY took alot of effort each day just to dress up. Oh well, too bad it's for a wrong reason.
Generally, the whole language barrier will definitely still be there. The Japs are kinda 'famous' for the whole perspective of, you have to know japanese language kinda thing. They kinda expect you to know their language, be it how much of a different race and culture you might appear to be. So, I kinda conclude that if you kinda know NOTHING about Japanese language and if you are going to Japan, get someone who at least know a little. Trust me, it would aid you ALOT in terms of ordering food, getting directions and finding places. Even the menu are in Japanese words with NO pictures whatsoever. Hah.
Speaking of directions and places, their whole train thingy is 123190283 times more complicating that Singapore's version! Imagine having alot more NS line or the NE line, probably like 10 times more or something.
Imagine having a cityhall interchange station as big as a local shopping mall of Singapore, with many different levels of trains and services to go upon! That's Japan's train system! Hah Totally kickass in a way, but totally confusing in another!
Shinjuku, Ginza, Yokohama, Tokyo, Shibuya, Harajuku, Ikebukuro, Saitama Shintoshin, Narita Jusco are just the few prominent areas that I've visited in the last 7 day stint in Japan! Each of these places have their local train station located fairly nearby, thus providing an easier access to these places.
Oh well.
There's so much more to add on, but I guess I'll just do it verbally. It'll definitely be more interesting than this. HAH.
Japan and it's people. :-)
