Taekwondo Incident in Bejing Olympics 2008

Taekwondo has always been a sport that provides thrills and excitements due to its fanciful kickings and styles. Even with or without the usual sparing battles, Taekwondo's kicking has always been top notch.

Spinning back hook? Front kick? Front Thrust? Yeah You got my gist.

I believe the world has already heard about how a bronze medal Taekwondo match at the recent Beijing Olympics went really wrong.

The Cuban Taekwondo champion, Angel Valodia Matos, got disqualified for taking too long for its treatment. In the process, he lost the bronze medal match and got really upset about it.

So much so that he decided to sneak up on the referee and... give him some Taekwondo hook.

The hook got the sweedish referee to bleed from his mouth. But I have to add on that the pictures taken for this incident shows the sweedish referee in his really hilarious expression.

Enough to say, the Cuban TKD champion and his coach got banned for life.

But I actually think its kinda dumb for such a rule to even be in a TKD sparing match. I mean, how can you only give a 1 min grace for treatment during a match? And if the treatment isn't done in a min time, the player gets disqualified.

So lets say I were to hit 'accidentally' hit at some really vulnerable spot, knowing very well that these spots require some treatment if hit with force. And the person, who has been dominating me in a TKD match, just couldn't have his treatment done with a min, will eventually lose the match to me?

Hmmm. Something is weird there. Oh well.
