And lo and behold, I chance upon this famous verse in the bible, that says something... that's not usually said very often, even in this mordern world.
"Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you....." and it goes on.
I mean like, surely for the first time when you read this, it'll be like a blow to the soul right. How can anybody ever love their enemies man!?! Let alone BLESSING them. Make no mistake about it. Blessing them could also means that you bless them in any and everyway! And then comes this part, to do good to those who hate you.
That sounds absoulutely ridiculous, doesn't it? You'd bet man. But hey, here's the truth. This is EXACTLY what the bible says. The word of God says. The daily bread that we consume of, says.
Somehow or another, I decided to head right back to the computer, to find another version of the bible, for that same particular verse. And so I switched the version to the "Message" version and there I was, being so much clearer and understandable for this particular verse.
I just love the way the Message bible does it man. :)
"You're familiar with the old written law, 'Love your friend,' and its unwritten companion, 'Hate your enemy.' I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that."
So there we go.
We love our enemies, just like what the bible tells us. But on the same page of that, we ALLOW them to bring out the best in us. These people might give us the hardest of time at work. Perhaps this particular person might be your boss or something. He or she is giving you a giant load of work to complete by the day itself. An impossible task you might perceive? Yup it is. But you know what? God's on your side. And we serve a God of impossibles. :)
By having all that, God wants us to allow them to bring out the best in us. Through these little giants and enemies in life, we showcase our very best. What more can we say? It has to be the best opportunity man. And the verse goes on to say that when someone gives us a hard time, we shoulod respond with energies of prayers!
I don't know bout you, but energies of prayers does sound like a WHOLE lot prayers man! It has to be a prayer that's constant. Because energy don't just fade away like that, does it? It has to be used in order to be drained. So likewise, we gotta keep these things in constant prayer. For then we are working out our God-created selves, which has to be the best of us.
I'm actually rather thankful for that little short few minutes of quiet time with Him. Yet another precious moment that will see to live for a long period of time. With that in mind, let's continue living for His glory. :)
